Alterations FAQUpdated a month ago

Will I need alterations?

Our dresses are not custom made, so it is likely that you will need some level of alterations. Since everyone’s body is unique in many ways, alterations will give you the best fit.

What kind of alterations will I need?

The two most common alterations are hemming the length of the dress and taking the dress in.

How much will alterations cost?

Alterations costs vary and are dependent upon a wide variety of variables such as:

  • Where you live
  • Width of the hem of your dress
  • Construction of the dress
  • Type of fabric
  • Layers of lining

How many sizes can a dress be taken in?

A dress can normally be taken in two sizes without affecting the design of the dress.

Can I have my dress taken out?

Yes! Dresses can be taken out by skilled seamstresses, although it is more costly, because typically dresses are easier to take in than to let out. With our seam allowance being less than an inch, you will need to purchase more fabric to take the dress out. Our Fabric by the Yard can be utilized for this kind of alteration!

How do I minimize my alterations cost?

We recommend investing in a Home Try-On Box to help you order the size closest to your measurements.  All Home Try-On dresses are the 46" length, but you can select your final made to order dress in one of our 4 length options. See our Size Chart for more guidance on measurements!

Do you provide alterations services?
