Alterations FAQUpdated 2 months ago
Will I need alterations?
Because Revelry garments are Made-to-Order rather than custom-made, customers may need some level of alterations to achieve their ideal fit. Alterations help tailor the garment to your unique body shape.
What alterations are most common?
The most common alterations are:
• Hemming the length
• Taking the garment in for a more tailored fit
To help reduce hemming, Revelry offers four length options when placing your Made-to-Order purchase. Selecting the length closest to your height and shoe choice can help minimize alterations.
Learn more about choosing the right length in our Length Options FAQ.

How much do alterations cost?
Alteration costs vary depending on several factors, including:
• Your location
• The width of the hem
• Fabric type
• Dress construction
• Number of lining layers
Your local seamstress or tailor will be able to provide the most accurate estimate.
How many sizes can a dress be taken in?
Most garments can be taken in up to two sizes without affecting the design or overall structure.
Can a dress be taken out?
In some cases, yes. However, letting a garment out is typically more complex than taking it in.
Because our seam allowance is less than one inch, additional fabric is usually required for this type of alteration. Our Fabric by the Yard option can be used to provide matching fabric if needed.
How can I minimize alteration costs?
The best way to reduce alterations is to start with the best possible fit.
We recommend:
• Ordering a Home Try-On Box to find your best size and style
• Reviewing the Size Chart when selecting your size
• Choosing the length option closest to your height and shoe choice
Home Try-On samples are provided in our 46" sample length, but your final Made-to-Order garment can be ordered in four length options.
Does Revelry offer alteration services?
Revelry does not currently provide alteration services. We recommend working with a local seamstress or tailor for any adjustments needed.
